Just came back from here… and it was 100% relaxation. The people were so nice. Very clean place, except for the seaweed beach, but that was nature's fault.
It's been a couple years since we've been there, so I don't know what it's like now. But when we were there, the food and restaurants were the same for both. The Platinum got us a better room 9but I have nothing to compare our room too), a different check-in area, and a roped off section on the beach. It was a nice feature, but it wasn't a game changer
thinking about coming here but concerned about the "platinum" all inclusive vs the non platinum all inclusive features (not rooms), can anyone shed any light here how that affects restaurants, bars, access to certain areas, etc?

Ok Resturants were awful I was very Dissapointed it was dry and over cooked and felt like leftovers to us.
The Buffert beach BBQ and Beack inner buffet was very very good and fresh. We Loved it and Hamburger shed with bar next door awsome staff.
Don't get me wrong it's a good resort but I would not recommend it at all compaired to a ***** 5 + RIU or **** 1/2 Majestic which I found far better.
Oh no problem it's just I thought this place could be way more awsome.
Cons: huge cheap thin glass divider in shower was scary and dangerous if you drunk and fall on it you'll be cut in half. THose were in the video you have.
I hated the smell of our room but Loved the rooms layout it was top notch.
Hated the smell of propain in the middle of the resort.
BUt again food was great and service wonderful!

Not the best i've been to but good. Buffet is huge and very good Restaurants well ok. But outside tons of places and clubs to go to which were awsome.
Pools for me were to small and disapointing the pictures and video make them look extreamly inviting but they were basic nothings.
I do not recommend it but you will not suffer,.
thanks Cam ,we have been to Dr 5 times and never have high expectations. We love the tropical setting and the euro style freedom. Nothing better than Presidente beer ,palm trees and topless woman everywhere. lol

That looks like a gorgeous resort. I love the inside of the hotel rooms and the beach views.
It is beautiful, I've stayed there once before but it can't be compared with any of the Barcelo Complexes.

Go to Majestic or a RIU they are top and way better by far.

We thought the food was good. Buffet style eating will never compete with freshly prepared dishes, but the variety more than makes up for it

Have fun! There are loads of water sports and activities, if that's your thing. We went for the beach and the pool… so we were content 😉
