  1. Good content, you pretty much covered the pros and cons of each city, Santiago is definitely on the rise and won’t have nothing to envy the Capital with. I think you could have added Puerto Plata, Sosua to this comparison or maybe you can do another video comparing the north coast with Samana and Punta Cana with beach quality and things to do in each city.

  2. You need to include Las Terrenas in Samana, La Romana, Cabarete, Puerto Plata, Jarabacoa, Constanza, Barahona and Monte Cristi. These towns are beautiful and are expanding.

  3. I am wildly impressed by both the video and comments section: no mention of Puerto Plata! Yeah, I live here and while this might make me a bit biased, I have lived for couple of years on each of your top three because of work, but that gives me a range to compare: Santo Domingo is a NO NO to most people in DR, even to Santi Domingo people themselves, mainly because of crazy traffic, over the top. Punta Cana was a bit of a surprise to me, feels a lot like Puerto Plata to be honest, specially because many (maybe most) people working there are from Puerto Plata originally and, because it has that vibe, I liked it and for a moment I was about to invest in a home there and moving with my family, but didn’t in the end. Santiago is my favorite, I’m always thinking in relocating there in the long run, but I get to miss that touristic vibe sometimes due to living since I was born near the beach.

All in all, back to my main topic: Puerto Plata one of those towns where people get obsessed just because of being from here, people never loses their identity and will be always talking about Puerto Plata, so you should take a look here. But even more, we will have our own “Punta Cana”, it’s under development now and is called “Punta Bergantín”; the family who built Punta Cana from scratch is investing in this new place through their Grupo Punta Cana company, so, it will be big and probably bigger than Punta Cana itself… But even if we forget about that, Puerto Plata is getting wildly developed, there’s a lot going on here and is hands down nicer and better overall than Punta Cana / Bavaro, which is inflated due to advertising, which Puerto Plata lacks… However, again, in real estate Puerto Plata is more expensive than Punta Cana, you need more money if you want to invest here and this is due to a lot of key features that you miss in Punta Cana.

All in all, I got a top 4:

    1. Puerto Plata
    2. Santiago
    3. Punta Cana
    4. Santo Domingo (far 4:)

  4. Born and raise in santo domingo and now living in Punta Cana for the past 4 years. The quality, the value, just almost everything is better here. This video is on point.

  5. Jonah thanks for your video. Now that I'm in my 60's and my profession is IT tech, so I can work anywhere in the world just as long as I have internet. my U.S income would provide an very comfortable living and investment opportunity. keep the videos coming.

  6. Man talk about the explosion of prices in the DR. Back in 2014 Beach front apartment in La Romana were $130k USD. Right now the same apartment is about $350k USD.
Also rent has skyrocketed after 2020. Back in 2014 a friend of mine was renting a ocean front apartment in malecón center for $30k DOP. The same place right now is about $2000 USD.
Love the DN and thought I could handle the traffic because I grew up in NYC and live in the tri state area but that didn't help 😂😂😂. Traffic is the worse I've ever seen! Jonah is not exaggerating when he says that it could take an hour to drive a block.

  7. Well, I retired in Punta Cana because I like the quietness of it. The traffic is much better. When I want the culture or noise, I go to Santiago or Santo Domingo. The potential for Punta Cana is almost limitless, because it is becoming an international culture zone. It is a cosmopolitan city. There’s a reason why Punta Cana is the most known city/zone of the country.

  8. I think Santiago in the long run will be the best place to live in DR. 25 minutes to the beach(when new highway is built) 30 minutes to rivers and mountains. Peace and tranquillity, city life, mass transit, great restaurants, and overall safer. Oh and one last one… best looking people 😅
