Returning to Brutal Canadian Winter 😔 Leaving Dominican Republic Paradise for Halifax Canada

This week, we unexpectedly have to fly home to Canada for a funeral. That means quickly packing up what we need from our apartment—including preparing for a few cold days of winter after four years away from it! But since we also plan to return to a different Caribbean country after, we have to pack smart for both climates.

We head to the airport in Puerto Plata, flying back to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Once there, we try to survive the winter with almost no proper clothing—but we manage to get ready quickly. While in Halifax, we explore the downtown area, experiencing the cold weather firsthand. To warm up, we stop into Toridori ( a new Asian restaurant, before continuing our walk through the city.

  7. I totally understand we moved to Punta Cana in 2016 . We have not been back to Canada in 7 years. And we haven't seen snow in 9 years. I don't even own pants or socks.

  13. My deepest sympathies to you both 🙏. As a Canadian, I feel your pain regarding the seemingly endless layers of winter weather gear as well as the effects of very cold and dry weather conditions on the body 🥶. I’m with you in spirit during your trip to Aruba ☀️.

  21. Sorry for your loss…I live in Tampa florida so cold weather I do not like..but I travel to Europe in the fall/winter bc I don’t mind the cold but only for less than 2 weeks lol…❤u guys stay warm …

  23. I feel your pain guys. Winter is not for me. Been there done that, never doing it again. I must say I was a little surprise with the announcement of both of you going to Canada; but now I understand. My condolences to both of you. Happy you guys back in the nice sunshine.   28. Writing from Bedford Nova Scotia and yes, it's freezing here, but all that nasty ice and snow is beginning to melt. My wife and I consider Aruba our second home so we're glad you chose to pay it a visit. We've been there several times before and are aching to return. Hope you have a grand time while you're there.

  36. Glad you guys are making the best of being back in the cold! We were in Cabarete for 2 weeks in January. When we got back to Cleveland, Ohio our car was buried in snow. It took 45 minutes to get the car moving! It was 11 degrees F. And I only had a spring Jacket!
