  1. Tourism is great as long as it's managed properly and working class Dominicans can benefit as long as regulations including environmental are in place.

The Dominican Republic should continue to diversify its economy to include manufacturing and high technologies and improvements in the agricultural sector.

Renewables and further decreases in corruption will help the Dominican Republic longer term.

  2. haiti has been a "sleeping giant" situation who has awakened and the Country safety for its citizens is at risk. The President and most of Governments officials don't care. yes your money goes a long way there but my safety is super important to me. I'm not a hater just a concern DOMINICAN!

  3. Punta cana is a trap. Once you get there you’ll be pressured to buy a time share for thousands of dollars. It’s a scam that will get you in debt. And it’s all about money and ripping off old white woman who looks for a good time.

  4. I hope, with the trade war with China, US Companies would consider moving some of their manufacturing to the DR. Also, I think Trump's a poker player. In the end he'll have to either show his hand or fold. He'll either win big or lose the hand but I think he's mostly bluffing with this stuff to get better terms for the US. I may be wrong but it's my hunch.

  5. After living in Santo Dominto and Puerto Plata since november. In Jan i moved to Colombia. DR is getting more expensive, especially food prices. The 18.5 % VAT is our of control. Lets not forget, Americans support Punta Cana and other parts of DR, since prices are up in the states, those people are not spending and visiting the DR.

  6. I'm posting this comment about 20 hours after you posted your video – trump just CAVED on tariffs! – he is suspending the tariffs he just put in place LAST WEEK! – this is after the economic damage has been done – trump es un IDIOTA!

  7. The Dominican people support tourism but not as it is now, currently the Dominican people are quite upset by the current situation of tourism and even the same people are beginning to criticize tourism, let's look at the data 87% of the profits of the hotel sector are taken out of the country, the construction of the hotels is done by Haitians and to top it off lately the administrative staff is also Haitian and that has contributed to areas of the country becoming Haitian ghettos, the Dominican people will never sacrifice their territorial integrity and their culture for the profitability of an industry, that was why there was the protest in Friusa to demand a change in the current situation of tourism and the construction sector because as it is now it is not beneficial for the Dominican people

  8. Spending a month in DR Going to Las Terrenas next week Seriously considering my retirement in terrenas next year I’ll be searching for a condo to buy Need to learn about real estate

  9. High tariffs to DR, or a recession in US, is good for expats. That would mean a recession in DR; a recession means less demand; less demand means low prices; low prices means dollars and euros buy more in DR.
Also, let me tell you that DR is much more than expensive Punta Cana. You have several foreigners communities like in Sosúa (Dutch/Belgians), Juan Dolio (Italians), Jarabacoa (USA), Santiago and Santo Domingo (Lebanese). There are also new tourists clusters in the making in paradisiac Samaná and Pedernales, mostly by US investors.
In you are about to retire, and want to embrace nature, look no more.

  10. Another thing reducing tourism can be U.S transit flights to caribbean if tourists get detained for no reason under current U.S leadership.

  11. Hi Jamie. Interesting vlog. We're UK retired and looking at DR as a retirement location. Looking forward to your comments on real estate and what the short term future holds….. should you do a video on the subject of course! All the best.😊

  12. High prices, never seen Punta Cana so expensive. Even the 3 star resorts are going for $200 minimum a night. Usually in high season the prices stay reasonable for those kinds of resorts. 4/5 Stars are hovering $350 a night, been like that since November, I think it's the taxes that are higher now in DR. People like deals, Punta Cana is becoming a "no good deal" kind of destination.

  13. Hey man I have a question, been saving money for a long time working in Europe and was planing to move to DR and start a Restaurant business at the beginning of 2027, do you thing there’s still room for that in punta cana or is it over saturated?

  14. How come people in DR don't realized food start skyrocketting only after the migration policy against haitians that worked in the farm. People now are afraid to invest in agriculture because of too much intertainty? Everyone knows if there's no haitians in the dominican farms that investment is at risk

  15. As American it's normal to give credit to Donald Trump but we even the average Joe Haitians that work in Constructions or Agriculture we know what we bring for DR so I guarantee if This country is really serious about get rid of haitian workers that's their country but they won't hang on for 2 months to go banckrut and I mean it and we mean it. That may hurt but that's the teuth. Now my dream is to see my fellow Haitians we put ourselves together and never get back in DR. Afterwhile I wish to tell the world another version of the story because I know something. I can prove how ungrateful dominicans are. whenever things got wrong they always call on us I wish a generation will come and say no anymore. As for now Tourism is BS the real weakth os not money but food for society stability it's also a roof for each and everyone and after there's stability and well being people will need to visit you so tourism is just benefit but not the real thing

  17. JG, thank you for your videos. Can you please do a video about the land for sale in Miches, for instance, location, type of land, beach front, street front, flat land, hill side., infrastructures, businesses there already, and so on. Also the method of payment the sellers accept. Thank you.

  18. Folks that why you go to the DR now ,plenty of accomodations for long stays less tourist more bargins and may be a great time to by a bargin property !

  19. Listen if there’s a recession in the United States no one is traveling to DR

But bottom line wherever it’s cheaper thats where they are going….
    Same as your insurance story
Bro once again the restaurants are gonna be full you live in a exclusive community with a lot of people have a lot of money and more power to them…
Trying to get likes typical insurance salesman

  20. Jamie, Donald Trump is using the tariff to negociate not as a monetary policy. He just want to achieve things faster and effiiciently. If you realize all countries are bending the knees to his feet already as begging for a 0% tax which is taking the world to a libertarian trade which is good for business and consumers. Donald trump although he doesn't use the most liked method by many, they guy know the art of the deal, and it is not a tradicional politican who love to loose time in over using diplomacy. Most people dont understand the mechanics of money and conomics. Always it is important in behavioral finance to detach emotions from decisions taking

There is uncertainty because he is disrupting estructural global manufacturing and CEO and politicians are in the decision phase, but short and long term is good for USA, and many small conutries like US would benefits directly or indirectly. Many countries was taking advantage of USA and Donald is not a pendejo.

  21. Agree. Been going at least 2 times a year since 2021 and even in that short time I’ve noticed higher prices, crowded and the same ol things to do especially from a tourist aspect. Get in with some locals and really explore and experience the true essence of the Dominican Republic

  22. Hello, right now I am in Cortesito in Punta Cana, I love the beach arena Blanca, is the best. I was talking with a native guy in the beach and said that tourism is a little low this year. Jaime thank you for all info, I was in all places from your videos, exactly like you said. I love RD :))

  23. There are certainly high net worth travelers that this period of chaos will not effect, so the top golf courses top villas, private air travel around the region will still have their visitors. Most of the DR targets budget/mid range vacationers. These folks will be more concerned about job security and income than booking a vacation a year in advance as they have in the past. Cruise companies and AI resorts are in for a bleak year if the madness continues.

  24. I think that a lot of people are worried about traveling due to their immigration status including certain green card recipients, Tps statuses ect.

  25. Hoping the economy picking up soon is possible for people to travel without worry to D.R. I am a frequent flyer to DR 3 and 4 times a year now I put everything on pause
