In this week’s visiting we’re comparing two of the most popular places on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, it’s Cabarete versus Las Terrenas.
We get asked which one we like better all the time, so we made a video about it. Throughout the video we go through a whole bunch of categories and compare Las Terrenas and Cabarete.
Some of the categories include:
Location, Accommodations, Beaches, Restaurants, culture and vibe and so many others.
If you’re wondering whether you should choose Las Terrenas or Cabarete for an upcoming visit to Dominican Republic, this video should help you decide which one is better for you.

Thank you this video, very informative
What month was this filmed in?
Thank You for your video very well thanks
Yes
Yo vivia en Boston y roxbury Dorchester es peligroso
Las Terrenas no tiene sabor criollo
Yo como dominicano me siento descriminado en las terrenas
EXCELLENT video ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Easy easy decision: I live on the island. Cabarete is better
so You Guys are Moving around more. Yes You Need to check out CostAmbar right up the New Carretera on your way to Cofresi'. CostAmbar is great , Coral reefs, Golf Course, and a mix between ExPat types and Locals who get bus loaded in on Weekends. Great Mix. Also a few great cabinas , with full amenities-kitchen, pool at $50 a night. I may invest here.
Buenas Dias y Buena Suerte, Bruno
What about full time living for expats?
much easier to make friends in a place that has as many happy hour drinks in Cabarete
Sosua hospital charged me 350 per day. Nurses work on their hair and nails. While you suffer. They don't care. These were expensive rooms in hospital. The other option to be thrown in with the locals, and I'd rather pay the 350$. My insurance reimbursed. But these hospitals don't take American insurance
What an informative video. Very helpful lots of good tips! Thanks so much for this!
First time booking flights in to the Dominican, my husband and I like to go the Airbnb route. We booked flights into Punta Plata airport. We are looking for walkable restaurants, beaches, shop and grocery stores close to Airbnb. Not much into the party scene. Looking for safe and quiet. What town would you suggest to stay for the week. Puerto Plata, Cabarete or Sosúa? Thanks
Which location is better to cruise around on an ATV??
hi guys what about Punta Cana
Cabarete wins for me. My 3 "W"s are: Warm, Walkable, and Water. I stayed in Sosúa for a month and a half a few years back and it was a great experience. I stayed in Casa Linda. My only issue was that right outside of Casa Linda, it wasn't very walkable. It would've been nice to have some sidewalks in the community and on the outside that connects to the beach. This may be in the works, but right now it appears that Cabarete is more developed in this area. Great overview! Thank you.
😎Neither, el cedro de Miches paradise found is the last virgin area. New destination!👀👍🏼
I like how i didnt see any working girls anywhere around you. Is that the norm in Cabarete? I know it isnt like that in sosua
Great info, thank you. We are from Canada also and We are going to Las Terenass for a month next winter. I have one question, you mentioned water outages. Can you drink the water there or should we buy bottled water?
Where I want to retire DR is heaven on earth ❤
Buying a property in Cabarete because it has more to offer but to be honest I dont like the beaches there. I LOVEEEEEE the beaches in Las Terrenas, the color of the water, the sand, how calm it is. I can go in the water with my floating and just relax for 1hr while having a drink on my hand. In Cabarete's beaches you have to wrestle with the waves to get in and out.
Guys, I’m back watching the DR series taking notes 😂. I’m going to attempt to use my southwest companion before it ends at the end of the month. DR crash course. Do you guys know of any care rental service that allows you to pick up in one location and drop off in another? You guys make it hard to skip Cabarete, Las Terrenas, or Punta Cana….
My favorite is samana. Better beaches than puerto plata.
Very easy answer: If you want much wind for your sport and hookers, choose Cabarete, for everything else choose Las Terrenas.
So here is a question, something that’s important to me! Everyone is different, but when I travel, I don’t want to eat European or American food etc, I want the Local foods 100%. So in this case Caribbean foods! I was just in South Africa and it was so much of the foods we have in London where I live. How are your 2 locations in terms of local Caribbean foods in the restaurants?
Have you been to Las Galeras? Our fave landfall in the DR. Hard to get to. Not much going on. Just the way we like it.
Thank you guys! 🙂
Such a great video! Very informative. You can't find this " meat and potatoes" information anywhere and it's what I was looking for! Happy travels!❤
I am interested in purchasing rental property and i wanted to know which one is better for attracting more tourists?
any actual or new findings about internet in DomRep… normally working with 4G/5G mobile wifi in european countries… is that possible in DomRep?
Good to see you are back in Cabarete!
❤❤❤
Great video till the very end! I am actually from PR, but love La Republica! Thanks for all the great info!
I am in Cajun Land Lafayette very nice neighborhood, but, have felt unsafe 3 times this year alone!
Las Terrenas VS Cabarete 🇩🇴 Which Location is Better?…Cabrera 😉
Very useful information as I have trying to consider which one of the two is best for long term living! Thanks
❤❤❤
I can confirm for the 911 service, I work for ….
Gracias por su visita ❤
Please don’t tell people to park on the beach… 🏝️ they can walk a little. Let’s not ruin las terrenas…
I see I never got a reply to my question below. But now I'll ask a couple of different questions. What is the temperature like Real Feel throughout the year?? Is it like Miami, constantly humid even in the winter? Second, how do you compare these towns with Punta Cana weatherwise??
Amazing video, I want to take a trip to Las Terrenas.
Available for long or short term rental?
Please go back to DR 🎉did you guys know that DR has millions of rivers , amazing restaurants, caves , beaches it has it all why would you guys go so far Asia? I want to go to Asia but too expensive tooooo far
