Occidental Punta Cana is an All Inclusive Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. How is it? The resort is a 5-star beachfront family resort located on the Dominican Republic’s finest beach stretch, El Cortecito Beach, one of Punta Cana’s top beaches. The resort has 860 rooms and suites and is roughly a 35-minute drive from Punta Cana International Airport. Taxis, private transfers, and transportation included in your holiday package are all options for getting from Punta Cana Airport to Occidental Punta Cana. The property is designed to offer a combination of relaxation and fun in a sun-lover’s paradise. Guests can relax under the Caribbean sun while enjoying a broad variety of cuisine and great tropical drinks at 11 dining facilities, including 7 a la carte restaurants and 10 great bars. We particularly loved the Steak House for their great steaks, the Mexican Restaurant for their tasty Mexican food, and the Italian Restaurant for serving the most exquisite dishes and, quite honestly, having the best menu of all the places. The resort has a big lobby buffet that serves breakfast, lunch, and supper, as well as a beach buffet that only serves breakfast and lunch. The food at the buffets was good and fresh; however, it did get repetitious at times. Unfortunately, the buffet service fell short of expectations, with the majority of the staff working tiredly, but with some staff uninterested in serving guests. The resort’s main asset is, of course, the beach, as well as the numerous pools and gorgeous surroundings. The drinks were fine, but nothing remarkable and comparable to those at any five-star resort. We had no trouble finding a beach chair on the beach, but by 12:00, everything was nearly occupied, considering that sargassum season is in full swing, with tons of sargassum washing up on the shore, but the resort staff is working hard to clean the beach, which must be appreciated. Sargassum levels vary from day to day, with one day being clean and the next beach shore being fully covered in sargassum. From our experience, the best months for traveling to avoid high levels of sargassum are November through April. Those who enjoy walking on the beach can find several kilometers of barrier-free beach to explore.

In conclusion, we had a good time at this resort, which was reasonably priced in comparison to other resorts and given the current Sargassum season. Will we return sometime in the future? Absolutely, considering the price is reasonable!

Beach 5/5 Stars (One of Punta Cana’s best beaches, with white sand and blue water- Except for the Sargassum season.)
Reception – 4.5/5 Stars (Friendly and competent. Many thanks to the manager for accommodating some minor inconveniences.)
Service – 4/5 Stars (Overall, the service was okay, except for several waiters at the buffets who were disorganized and careless.)
Buffet – 4/5 Stars – (Crowded buffets at lunch with good food but repetitive.)
Restaurants – 4.5/5 Stars (We recommend booking the restaurants as soon as you arrive. We loved the Steak House, Mexican restaurant and the Italian restaurant.)
Rooms – 5/5 Stars (Everything in the room worked as it should. A nice television with a good channel selection, a daily restocked mini-fridge, and a functional air conditioner. Thank you to our maid, who did an excellent job cleaning and organizing our room each day.)
Sleep Quality – 5/5 Stars (Perfect soft mattress for us.)
Cleanliness – 4.5/5 Stars (Organized and clean, with each staff always contributing.)
Internet- 4/5 Stars (Good speed but constantly losing signal during the day.)
