Budget Travel Guide: Dominican Republic #dominicanrepublictravel

💯 Biggest travel myth: Travel has to be expensive

💵 While I do like to treat myself and I’ll splurge every now and then, I’m able to travel so often because I set a budget for myself and plan my trip around that.

🇩🇴 Here’s my tips for planning a budget-friendly trip to the Dominican Republic

🏠 Airbnbs are the most affordable accommodation option.

I had a private room in Santo Domingo (at an adorable guesthouse with a pool, wifi, and a full kitchen) for only $19 USD a night. In Cabarete I had an entire apartment for $30 USD a night.

🍲 Food: I ate out for lunch and my coffee break everyday and made dinner at home most days. Of course, I treated myself to a nice dinner out a few nights but cooking half my meals definitely helped me save money.

🚌 It is so easy to travel around the Dominican Republic by bus. Plus it’s a very cost efficient way to get around. My bus from Santo Domingo to Sosua has cushioned, reclining seats, wifi and AC for around $10USD for the 4 hour trip.

Uber is easily available in the city and motos and guaguas are a great way to get around in small towns and by the beach.

Overall, I spent about $50-60 USD per day on my trip.
