In Las Terrenas, tucked along Playa Portillo (aka Mosquito Beach), our family found one of the calmest, most soulful stretches of sand in the Dominican Republic.
We spent nearly 7 hours here — swimming in crystal waters, walking along the endless shoreline, eating at the Porto by Mosquito Beach Club, and soaking up the quiet vibes that make this place feel worlds apart from Punta Cana.
The highlight? On my walk, a stray dog appeared at my side — as if we’d been friends forever. He walked with me, showed me his beach “kingdom,” and reminded me that sometimes the simplest connections are the ones that stay with you the longest.
