  1. Jamie you are the best thank you for sharing your experience. How much do you think a family of 4 will spend each month living in vista cana with a paid off house and car? God bless you!!

  2. is it a good deal now to purchase a condo in Punta Cana for ourself and for renting with Airbnb? or there is a saturation of too many rented condos and/or bad management??

  3. Hi , Jamie, thanks for the information you giving, Iโ€™m 64 my wife and I be retiring on January we paid off a condo in WHITE SANDS and Car , We think we be good with a budget of 5,000 . You clear our mind. Thanks ๐Ÿ™.

  4. Love your videos, straight to the point and honest. I had planned to move to Punta Cana for retirement before I watch your videos and now I am more certain that Punta Cana is the place to be. Already bought a pre-construction condo back in November last year and the equity is already there. Keep up the good work Jamie !!!

  5. Man I'm dominican (from Santo Domingo) living in the states and thinking about retiring in DR. You make a hell of an argument for Punta Cana…too many thing going on in favor…right now is on my top two places to retire in DR for sure…Good work bro!

  6. Iโ€™m like your wife: born Dominican but culturally American. Your videos are making me fall in love with my country again. Now I want to visit punta cana and check it out. Thank you!

  7. Punta Cana is very nice but this gringo is retiring in Jarabacoa. The paper thing Iโ€™m use to living in the country in USA. Jarabacoa is getting new grocery stores as we speak with was my main concern outside of electricity but Iโ€™ll have solar. Santiago isnโ€™t far and my wife has family in Santo Domingo and Monte Cristi. So centrally located. Plus I grew up in Minnesota and donโ€™t like the extreme heat everyday so central was my choice. Plus have a golf course there which I know you hate ๐Ÿ˜‚. Iโ€™m weird love the water but hate the sand so beach isnโ€™t my thing either.

  8. Im with you, need to have a place to live and a car free and clear. My planned buget for a single man is 2200 a month not including house payment and car. So your 3,000 a month for a couple is a good benchmark. Single person will still have light, cell phone, internet, health care. This year I flew to Las Americas 10 times from NY. I have not had problems , delays are the norm in airtravel now- staffing issues.

  9. Probably the best recent insight I've seen for my situation. Still have some hurdles to iron out such as local health insurance @ 68. I also found out that my wife who is not Dominican will first need a cedula before she qualifies for local health insurance.

  10. Wao jaimie you got me right in the center of my brain ๐Ÿง  Iโ€™d been living in usa for 37 looong years,I was 22 when i left DR , and my wife and me are getting ready to move back to dr we own a home in primaveral II right behind vista cana, for almost 3 years now ,and didnโ€™t realize until now how difficult would be for me to stay anywhere else than punta cana, thanks you helped me make that decision a lot easier

  11. IT IS DEFINITELY THE PERFECT PLACE TO RETIRE IN DR BUT LET'S BE REALISTIC ,FOR GRINGOS ONLY AND I DON'T MEAN IT A BAD WAY, ITS RARELY TO SEE A DOMINICAN LIVING AND WORKING ABROAD RETIRE TO PUNTA CANA EVEN IF THEY CAN AFFORD IT. THEY OR WE USUALLY RETIRE EITHER TO OUR HOMETOWN OR CLOSE BY BUT RARELY PUNTA CANA..

  12. Excellent video Jamie! Feel the same way. Im born Dominican lived in the USA for over 85% of my life and feel culturally American. Still love my Dominican heritage however, donโ€™t think I will ever be able to adapt and live in a regular city or town of the DR unless is something like Punta Cana. Thank you for always providing us with excellent content and info.

  13. Jamie. Hit the nail on the head my friend. As a Dominican who left at 7 yrs old to USA I definitely don't fit in the TIGERAJE you mention. I have a condo in Cocotal where I definitely fit but I frequently visit my hometown of Sabana de la Mar. I have a few cousins and sponsor a youth baseball team there which I love. I never spend more than 2 days there due to the lack of comfort I'm used to though.
Despite all that, I do see D.R. improving all over the place. The roads are an example of how comfortable it is to move around the Island compare to 20 yrs ago. Keep the videos coming. They are very useful. Gracias

  14. I live in the rural part of Monte Cristi in the north shore and power has rarely gone out. The times itโ€™s gone out has been due to storms that have damaged the infrastructure.

  15. You are very on point my friend! I left DR at 18 and even for me (the tigueraje) is a big downside of my beautiful country , everything else you said is just right on point as usual!! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

  16. I may add that if you're a golfer, the Punta Cana area has some beautiful, challenging golf courses. I think the greens fees are reasonable, unless you visit Casa de Campo which is 45 minutes away.

  17. Very nice but problems with the corrupt government and dominican republic suppose be better but the government still money and I think dominican republic is good only for tourists only for the dominican people it's terrible because the corrupt president I'm not the only one to say something like a lot of dominican people it's nice place for tourists

  18. I'm like your wife, born Dominican but culturally American. I dont know if I could deal with the hustling of santo domingo or santiago, Im not used to that. Being in Punta Cana makes me feel like I'm Florida somewhere. This is where I'll be, hopefully in 2 years. I watch all your videos so I can get informed. it's ironic, a gringo teaching a dominicans the ropes about DR. Be blessed.

  19. They started to build a second terminal in Santo Domingo with a capac ity of 4,000,000 people/year. This was way overdue, the one now is old and ugly. Santo Domingo is the biggest city in DR. The airport is supposed to giev people a good impression when they land to visit and a nice memory when they leave country.
