Dominicans Told Us to Come Here 🇩🇴 Juan Dolio Dominican Republic is Incredible

This is Juan Dolio 😲 We’re back in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 and finally visiting a place SO many locals have told us to check out… Juan Dolio!

Located on the south coast about an hour from Santo Domingo, Juan Dolio is known for its long stretch of white sand beach, modern condo developments, and being a popular weekend escape for Dominicans looking to relax by the ocean.

In this video, we explore both New Juan Dolio and Old Juan Dolio to see what this beach town is really like 👇

We start in New Juan Dolio, walking along the beach and through town. Right away, this area feels different — more modern, with high-rise condos lining the ocean. Even though it’s a windy, wavy day, the water is still beautifully clear (and we hear it’s usually much calmer here!).

For lunch, we stop at a Venezuelan spot for arepas at:
Sabor Tricolor Restaurant • Aroma of Venezuela

Then we check out one of the most unexpected places we’ve seen in the DR…
Roof 66 — a Route 66–themed spot with vintage American cars AND an awesome rooftop:

After that, we head back to our hotel to show you around:
Days Inn by Wyndham Juan Dolio

Next up — we explore Old Juan Dolio, which feels completely different. This is where things are more lively, with beach bars, restaurants right on the sand, and more people out enjoying the area.

To wrap up the day, we grab dinner at:
Meson Spanish Restaurant

…and then experience a bit of early nightlife (yes… 9:00 PM counts 😅). We stop by:
The Juan Dolio Liquor Store

Loud music, drinks flowing, and we even take a shot of aged Dominican rum to end the night 🥃

  1. Hi guys and fellow travellers (especially Canadians)! We're planning some slow travel, and our first stop is Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I know Canadians get a 30 day visa-free on arrival with the tourist card. However, we’d like to extend our stay up to 90 days, and I’m getting mixed messages online. Some people say, “Don’t worry, just pay the penalty/overstay fee when you leave at the airport.” Others recommend going to Santo Domingo or applying online for a proper extension. Has anyone recently extended their stay or overstayed in Punta Cana as a Canadian? What worked best for you? Any tips on the easiest and most reliable way to do this would be greatly appreciated! I really appreciate any help you can provide.

  2. It's such of shame that the locals don't get together and do a clean up of that beautiful beach.
We could have a better looking country if everyone did there share.

  3. Juan Dolio has not been fully leveraged in terms of its beach, its proximity to Santo Domingo, the airport, and its area with historic homes. However, I do see that it is becoming more focused on condominiums, as I’ve noticed several beachfront tower projects that are set to be built in 2026. So, it’s a good time to invest now while they are still in the pre-construction phase.

  4. Back in 2010, Juan Dolio was deemed to become the South Beach of the DR. After a few years of talk and promotions the investors never came through. Welcome back!

  5. Wow great tour in different area I’ve never heard of and the beach is gorgeous and that bar with all the retro cars was insane . Nice place you stayed and gives some options. Thx you

  6. 🇨🇦❤👍🇩🇴I Love when You Guys Explore and Discover Unique and different Areas of the DR Thanks Trevor & Anna Very Beautiful🇩🇴❤There is defiantly too much Plastic Garbage in the World. 🗑

  7. It looks like a fun town to visit, but for the long term we prefer that unexplainable vibe we have in Cabarete. Thanks so much for introducing us to Juan Dolio, we loved it! ❤️
P.S. Luc agrees wholeheartedly about the Leyenda. 🥃

  8. These aren't hotels, they are apartment complexes. Most of them are private and some are for rent. Juan Dolio in the 90's used to be an all inclusive resort town but right now there aren't any more resorts, they converted to apartments and some of them are abandoned.

  9. Welcome home guys! I think that yellow car is a Chevrolet Bel Air. Quirky places are so memorable. Looks like an interesting area. Just came back from ViVa Vi Samana. Love the area but wouldn’t be back to the all inclusive. Next time a Casa or condo. Gorgous area. I’m more in love. Can’t wait for your next video!❤
