I Quit My $400k Job to Move to Dominican Republic (5 Years Later)

5 years ago, I walked away from a $400,000/year job…
and moved my family to the Dominican Republic.

At the time, it didn’t fully make sense.
Great career. Stable income. Everything you’re “supposed” to want.

But I was miserable.

In this video, I break down what actually happened after quitting, what I’ve learned over the last 5 years, and why we ultimately decided to stay in the Dominican Republic full-time.

This isn’t a highlight reel.
It’s the real story — including the doubts, the hard moments, and the unexpected upside.

  1. I get you. I have a pet care service in Chicago and I quit my corporate job back in 2012. I just kept running into that corporate wall of promotions and it just got to be too much. I have never looked back. I am hoping to move to the Dominican Republic sometime over the next 6 years.

  2. You did bad math you really made 400k a year and walked out of that mine gold then I don’t know if you’re the opposite of smart, that kind of money a year could get you anything you want in DR and go there whenever you get time off and who know you probably could’ve worked half of the time remotely from DR

  3. There are many insurance companies operating out of Bermuda Jamie who would love your experience and so you should be able to carve yourself an offshore role start making that money again and make your wife and children even happier than what they currently are. Thank you very much and kind regards

  4. Thanks for sharing… God works in mysterious ways… Here is something I was reading while watching this video… I stopped your video about 13 minutes in to focus on this, Genesis 9, 1-16. Then watched the rest of this video. You helped prove that God has a Covenant with us. We just have to stop, listen, and follow what he set out for us. The Blessing will flourish as the rainbow shines upon us. Thank You For Sharing so much… You have helped me so much on my journey back to RD, and now my journey with God. THANK YOU BROTHER…. THANK YOU
