Why don't they do the streets like how they do in Puerto Plata? They have small ditches running along both sides of the street so the water runs down into the streams, rivers, and ocean. That looks insane. But you really got me with that Starbucks hole in the wall 😂

Speed bump is "Policia Acostado" in good Dominican. I've not heard that in any other latin country. It translates to "Police lying down". Funny!!

Man, all that backed up traffic in downtown really makes me doubt they did any planning for all the development that's happening over there. It's going to be worse than Santo Domingo in no time. That's a shame.
There's so much development going on in Punta Cana that I can't help but wonder if they are urban planning it correctly if at all (we don't have the best track record in that regard). That first clip suggests they're somehow making the same mistakes they did in the Distrito Nacional smh. Since you come from a developed country maybe you can do a video with your thoughts on the matter with a look to the future?

hey Jamie, el Cortecito is one of my favorite areas. I go there often. I think you forgot to mention that the beach is just steps away from where you were walking. I agree with you regarding the drainage, it sucks. When I'm in the area and it starts to rain hard I leave right away otherwise you risk getting stuck in there because the roads turn into lakes and rivers. Regarding some of the things you said: policía acostado… you got it right. The cigar place is called Garden Cigar…. so you were right…. some people call it The Garden, also. The gym you go to in Downtown mall is called Body Shop. Great content….. keep it up!

You do not need drainage systems your city/town needs to invest in water pumping infrastructure to move the water buildup to designated areas during and after high rainfall. Modern cities don’t rely on drains alone they pump the water out the city!
Great video, brother. Thanks for touching on the drainage issue. I visited cortecito a couple of years ago looking for a condo to purchase, but settled on las terrenas, which ironically has a worst drainage problem 😂
I walked those streets before too. My first trip to DR was to Cap Cana at a resort that is no longer open. Right at the marina near the yachts. I think they turned it into all condos. I met an upper middle class Dominicana from San Cristobal online. She was going through a divorce and looking for some fun I guess. She eventually got back with her husband but we are still friends today. Good person and politically connected. Good connect. My next trip to Punta Cana after many trips to Santo Domningo was to an Airbnb in Punta Cana. I had a good “tour giuide”. We met online and talked and did video chat for a few months. I already knew the game and I straight up asked her if she was a prostitute or looking for a relationship. She kept it real and said if a man treats her like a prostitute, she’s a prostitute. If a man treats her like a girlfriend or wife, she is that. She gave me the girlfriend experience for a few days and then started acting like a prostitute. 😂😂😂😂

If you’re enjoying your life there, you probably deserve it.
As a Dominicans, I ask myself why isn’t our government deporting all those illegal Haitians, I can’t see a Dominican, as a matter of fact 70% of the population in Punta Cana is of 🇭🇹, those on the traffic light were Haitians 🤦🏻
When I was a kid my mom used to say: we are going to pass a "policia acostado" and I literally used to check over the window where was the police hanging out in the floor like if he was sleeping! LOL! 😂😂😂
Love ur videos, do you mind doing something about opening up a business there, maybe the risk or yellow tape you may have to go thru like you did with buying or building a home there

Haven't been to Punta Cana in 9 years. This is a nice drive through. Honestly, certain sections look exactly like South Florida. Thanks for sharing.
I was just there 3 days ago, and we stayed at the Garden apartment complex. Around the corner from Citrix. The area you kept calling: "Cortesito" is actually: "Los Corales".
I agree with the street sewer/drainage system in that area sucks.
