a real Dominican Republic travel vlog | no resorts—just family & culture

What a trip!! This one was huge for us because it was Angel’s first time meeting my dad after almost 10 months of us dating 🙂 It’s safe to say it went well! The timing was perfect because we also got to celebrate my dad’s 66th birthday. Since he lives in the Dominican Republic, every birthday I get to share with him is special.❤️

Next up is Las Terrenas, the second part of our tip and a 2.5 hour bus ride from Santo Domingo. We’ll be back to the capital to say our goodbyes in a few days.🌴

🥘 Restaurants in this video:

Buho Eatery

🗺️ Neighborhoods in this video:

La Zona Colonial: A historical neighborhood here in the capital. Great for your stay in the capital as it’s walkable to great restaurants, museums, dance clubs and breweries. (The area has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Whatever that means! )

Piantini: This is the neighborhood we stayed in and love. With plenty of things to do nearby, close to many restaurants and Agora Mall.

Bajo Mundo: What we Dominicans consider the gritty hoods of the capital, not safe to walk alone, but a great time if you know people. My dad likes to chill with his friends, dancing and listening to music in colmados, so you’ll often see me in these parts when I’m with him.
