  2. It’s remarkable how personally committed you are to Sosúa, and to the entire Puerto Plata – Cabarete region. I truly admire that. But one also has to look at things realistically and honestly. Already 30 years ago, Sosúa was the “Little Pattaya” of the Caribbean. Of course, the town has also developed positively over time. Now, many of the ladies from Sosúa have disappeared and are trying their luck in Cabarete or in the tourist areas of Puerto Plata. Some have probably moved to Punta Cana and Bávaro, and some continue in Boca Chica where they left off in Sosúa. A not insignificant number of these women originally came from Santo Domingo. Many of the working girls will now also likely focus more on dating apps. Still, I think all these alternatives cannot make up for the loss of Sosúa for the girls. The same thing that is happening now in Sosúa will happen in Cabarete with the girls over a short period of time. In Punta Cana and Bávaro, prostitution has also risen sharply in recent years, even if it is still far less obvious and penetrant than it was in Sosúa just two months ago. Furthermore, the working girls in Punta Cana certainly won’t wait for competition from Sosúa.

The government wants Sosúa to be free from sex tourism. But that remains only a wish, because legally speaking, prostitution in the Dominican Republic is legal—of course, within the regulations. I think the government can at most declare certain areas as prostitution-free. It would be desirable if Sosúa now continues to develop in the way many citizens and the government hope. Ideally, this would also create better life opportunities for the population, with more and better jobs. But whether this will also benefit the current working girls is questionable. You can certainly not paint all these chicas with the same brush. There are many kind young women among them who, often through no fault of their own, had bad luck—became mothers early, and by their early 20s already have three small children, sometimes from different fathers. For these women, it will be almost impossible to support themselves and their children with a normal job, unless they have an adequate male sponsor. 🤷
How many semi-professionals earn a little extra here and there from tourists? Then there are the hardcore prostitutes and the self-important “chapiadoras.” I don’t believe that any of them would work a regular job for 250 to 350 dollars a month. Now there is an attempt to turn Sosúa around 180 degrees by force. But this cannot work without causing serious problems. Such a transformation process takes time, a long time, for it to really sink into people’s minds, and for the population to adapt accordingly. It takes an entire generation. 🤷

  3. Those black outs are nothing new thats been going on for years happens all the time thats old news, they don't care. There the ones turning the power on and off. Just more often now

  4. It's obvious they have a plan for this city. These tickets to POP have tripled. The world is watching Sosua now, and this will set the precedence all over the world as it relates to S tourism. Colombia will be next. The creep cams and classless travelers for sure created this problem. I don't blame sosua

  5. Are you reading from government press releases? You seem to be treating your sources as gospel. For example, El Salvador or no state to emulate. According to Midas Touch network, they are providing outsourcing prison services of people deported from the US, known as “torture and murder prisons” for the Trump administration. This is based on reports from Abrego Garcia who was mistakenly sent there by US ICE. Garcia reported being tortured in the prison before a US judge forced the US Police State to return him back to the US for due process… a practice seemingly nonexistent in the DR and diminishing by the day from the US. I think you should tell us your sources and treat them more with a grain of salt. Otherwise, you’re just a propaganda arm of the state, Dear. I would hope you would exercise some independence, Dear.

  6. *I guarantee you that most of those Haitian workers didn't get paid B4 being deported which is standard practice whenever this happens.
*They need to prosecute the Dominicans who get paid to let them back in illegally.

  7. Lazy dominicans aint gonna do any construction. They will hire outside companies and costs will sky rocket…smh. And soon domincans wont be allowed on their own beach. Civil war is coming. Its already being discussed

  8. Cerise, you said that "some of the men treat the girls like ladies" the word lady or ladies do not belong in the same paragraph with prostitutes. A prostitute can never be a lady with about 500 men up under their skirts. You need to know what a lady is if you think that these prostitutes are ladies.

  9. Too many poor people were making money. Politicians don't care about people being exploited. Those local businesses and girls were making loads of money and envious eyes were watching

  10. Yes, but soon it will be just like many other countries, owned by foreigners and their children. The Dominicans and especially the women will be worker for the foreigners. The foreigners want to have the women for themselves and take over the culture! Its been written! Yes I can't stand You Tube for what they do around the world to cultures and people. Always make the women innocent as long as they were of age they knew exactly what they were doing. But the women also was GREEDY, and loved the attention to there own Demise. Not all men was there because of the Stupid and Ignorant Youtubers. The Dominican Culture, families, women, land are some of the most beautiful people and places in the world. These women used their beauty to get the fast cash that was not available so easily from the Dominican Economy for most. Now the foreigners with the money will have the cream of the crop at their finger tips. In a few years to a decade you see the mixing of foreigners with the Dominican women and that Dominican blood will be lost. The Youtubers are ignorant, was going to far, and disrespectful. Majority wasn't making that much money You Tube was making Millions! Copy cats, and many without business or moral sense just trying to get a few bucks and views!

  11. This is Cerise breaking news! I like the sound of this 😊, thank you Ms Cerise for the heads up on Sosua. The off duty US customs officer that got shot happened 30mins from my house . God bless you 🫶🏾🙏🏾

  12. All those deportations may be a double edged sword. With the construction projects going on in the Sosua area. The Haitians make up the majority of the workforce doing most of the labor.

  13. ❤❤ thanks! Wow I was just there last February and I loved Sosua! Valentines days up the hill at the Jewish restaurant was perfect & beautiful!

  14. With the travel advisory, the power grid problems and the situation in Sosou, why would anyone want to go there anymore. Why do companies want to come there with the constant power outages they need to correct that 1st.
