First day in the Dominican Republic as a Guyanese vlogger, and it did NOT disappoint. From a massive 18oz steak surprise 🍖 to a deep dive through the streets of Santo Domingo with the Ministry of Tourism, today was packed with culture, history, laughter… and way too many desserts.

We toured the first paved street in the Americas, explored 500-year-old forts, and even sat through a full 4D cinema battle experience — all while sweating it out in Caribbean heat and dodging another food coma. This vlog is a love letter to the DR, Caribbean culture, and what happens when Guyanese people travel with appetite and curiosity.

  1. Love watching new folks in the DR!!!:) Such an amazing time there, and so much to see (Make it to the mountains!!). Hoping to make it to Guyana one day, but it's nice to see another Caribbean vlogger on the road. Enjoy!

  2. The Ozama river originally was blue. Its brown because of agricultural runoff, urban runoff and sewage. There are plans to fix this and make the river clean by improving sewerage and waste water treatment. In the past people used to swim and drink from the river.

  3. Wow u did the cultural center of the Dominican Republic. just , how beautiful to see through ur lens, One of the best videos I have seen of the Dominican Republic Cultural center. Thank you , also hope u can bring this video to Guyana and they can take heed to ur wishes and build something alike so that people can go enjoy the rich history. that Guyana has to offer. Ty

  4. We Dominicans call that mashed plantain "Mangu".

The name came from when the American invasion in the 60s a soldier came upon these two old couple and when approached their home he talked to them with sign language that he was hungry . The Dominican old couple mashed some plantains and gave it to the American soldier and the soldier said "Man good" so thats where the name Mangu came from.
Also theres a saying that Dominicans " Dominicans will take the food off their mouth to give it to someone in need"….Its a known fact that we Dominicans , no matter how poor , we will give or feed anyone in need, even having limited or no food in our fridge.
