Here are the top 3 things I learned in the DR… plus one bonus because apparently I can’t count.
1. Driving should be an Olympic sport.
If you can drive in Santo Domingo, you can drive anywhere. The traffic, the motos, the horns… absolute chaos. And watch out for those questionable police stops. 😂
2. Your Metro is AMAZING.
Seriously, one of the cleanest metro systems I’ve seen since we lived in Singapore. But what impressed me most was how people immediately offered my pregnant wife their seat. Every single time.
3. Dominicans are some of the nicest people on the planet.
I’ve been to 117 countries, and the Dominican Republic is easily top five when it comes to the people. Everywhere we went, you welcomed us, helped us, and treated us like we belonged here.
And yes, I know I said three…
4. The DR is a SPORTS POWERHOUSE.
Everyone knows about the baseball. But volleyball? Track and field? Basketball? This country has some serious athletes. Getting to experience that firsthand at these Games was something special.
I came here as a visitor.
I’m leaving as part of the Dominican family. 🇩🇴❤️
Gracias, República Dominicana.
