S3E4 Setting sail, SOLO, to the Bahamas from the Dominican Republic

In this video, I untie from the mooring, spend the night in the anchorage in the inlet, and then pull up anchor and leave the Dominican Republic for the Bahamas! It’s also my first ever solo shakedown sail. I do not recommend.

  1. HDR camera looking very immersive on my HDR screen.

Also, hearing your parents lifting you up with words and advice… my parents never did this for me, in fact, they were always filled with doubt 😓
You have great parents who believe in you.

  2. Dude had a sore throat and used that as an excuse to leave you behind. Idk Dan is cool but also seems a bit of a douchebag. Him being more experienced I would have assumed he'd assist more in your preparation… Even the weather that day looked bad from the start. I wouldn't worry about his stupid 100 day challenge. Just get yourself and your boat sorted. Glad everyone is ok.

  3. I’m not a sailor but I noticed there’s no navigation aids so how are you navigating? Also what about autopilot ? Are you gonna have to hand steer all that way ?.

  4. Fun video! Every anchoring gets easier now…wow, you are going to have a ton of fun back in the Bahamas! Mast winches also can work as an anchor windlass in conjunction with a long line and bit of patience….your pop is absolutely right! Thanks, Andrew

  5. You are a brave young woman. I wish I was half that brave as you are. I wish to go out on a longer trip with my boat, but I am too afraid to do it. My longest trip so far was 65 miles in open water in the Baltic.
    Please stay safe out there.
