In this video, weāre exploring Santiago, Dominican Republicās second largest city, and showing just how modern itās become. If you havenāt been here in a few years⦠you might not even recognize it.
We start our day at the iconic Monumento a los HĆ©roes de la Restauración, right in the heart of the city. While weāve been inside before, this time weāre soaking up the atmosphere around itāand taking in how much the surrounding area has evolved.
Next, we check out one of the biggest changes in Santiago: the TelefĆ©rico de Santiago š” This cable car system is part of the cityās growing public transportation network and gives a totally different perspective of the city from above.
From there, we head to one of the newest and most modern developments in the cityāthe Ćgora Santiago Center, a massive new mall that feels like something straight out of Miami or Panama.
Weāre also staying at the AC Hotel Santiago by Marriott, one of the newest hotels in the city, and give you a full tour so you can decide if itās worth it for your next trip. The highlight? A rooftop pool with incredible views over Santiagoādefinitely one of the coolest places to relax in the city.
And of course⦠we had to end the day with a local recommendation š» We head to Alba Brewing in Los Jardinesāone of Santiagoās best craft beer spots.

I being waiting a video in my home city in this channel for the longest time! Thank you!
The monorail is expected to be completed this year. They are about to start the construction of a monorail line in Santo Domingo too.
Cibao International Airport has been projected to become one of the busiest airports in the country. located 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) southeast of Santiago City's center. The airport has a new terminal under construction expected to be inaugurated in mid-2026. Thank you for showcasing the beauty of the city where my mother was born and raised, and where I spent most of my summer and spring break vacations as a child. Blessing my friends.

Santiago gonna be model city in the Caribbean
Saludos. Gracias por venir a Santiago de los Caballeros , La Ciudad Corazón, República Dominicana. Gracias por su video sobre esta hermosa Ciudad.
Bendiciones.
Fun fact: Ever wonder why the teleférico looks empty? A lot of Dominicans are actually afraid of heights⦠so they avoid it
That area is called Los Jardines , The Gardens in English, Agora open 2 years ago it is a beautifull place to visit, Santiago and Puerto Plata are recieving a lot of private and government investmets.
It is intended to double up the commercial and busines activity in the next 10 years. Santiago is the capital city of El Cibao, region which is composed of 16 provinces with a large production of agriculture farms, lie cow, chicken , Pork farms, tobaco, milk, vegetables bananas, plantains, sweet potatoes, casava, beans, onions garlic, oregano, Oranges lemons, etc. etc. That region produces 60 % of what is consumed by the entire island. Also the airport is been expanded to accomodate larger planes that will start coming from Europe next year. The future of Santiago is very promessing.
The metro in Santo Domingo is from 2009 and it is super clean too
That's why people from Santiago always say with proud Santiago is Santiago the heart ā¤ļøā¤ļø city
I can see why you like Santiago more than the capital. From what Iāve hear itās a lot cleaner and thereās not as much traffic, which are the two main reasons I canāt stand the capital, even though thatās where Iām from.
It's not very used cuz the monorail is not finished yet and the cable alone can't take to many places in the city.
Hi, if the Ambar highways is built the distance between Santiago and Puerto Plata is about half hour, it cuts the mountain range. The old town is in the process of renovation, the air cables and wires are being placed underground, cobblestone streets, restoring old facades, etc. The iconic hotel Mercedes, built in the 30's was beautifully restored and turned into an art museum and a cultural center, free admission.
