Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – Columbus Lighthouse, Old Town Walking – HAL Pole-To-Pole Cruise

Our first port of call is Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, which seems appropriate because of all the firsts associated with the city! Join us for a ship tour called “A Walk Through Santo Domingo’s Old Town” as we check out Columbus Lighthouse and some exhibits within, then head to the old colonial walled city for a stroll through some historic buildings. Back onboard Volendam, we’ve got an evening full of comedy music, disco tunes, and more!! 😀

  1. OMG I forget that chemistry song DANG. King of the Road was our "travel song" for vacations. A LOT of the songs remind me of old family weddings back in the 70's. Love he hit on Hee Haw. Now being it's 70's night I can see why he did the songs he did. TOTALLY makes sense hence me knowing the songs, lol especially the chemistry song.

  2. lol you're kinda there, the shirt and maybe the vest the pants would be "boho" funky designs with extra wide flair at the bottom. I have some, Oh and moccasins. I have my original pair from 1978 when I was 13. The design of your shirt is "boho" design so pants were kinda like that.

  3. Was the I see England I see France a reference to the children's jump rope saying? Because I can see you doing that as a reference because of your humor. Subtle and not everyone will pick up on it. Like when you do a lyric and folks pick up on it. Sorry just had to ask to see. My husband caught it too and wondered.

  4. For this cruise only, maybe you should rename your Youtube channel to GerontoDeeJay. 😂

Is it because you try to avoid filming other people but your cruise does not look very crowded. Is it the norm for super long cruise? Thanks

  5. At 71, I am also a techie Jay and end up teaching our neighborhood kids a thing or two. Of course I am also helping the old ones (like myself) also! I love everything tech! We may be older in years, but man did we party back in the day, and to all that music. Hubs and I can still get a major rave goin but now a days without alcohol. 😊. Love the OOTD Dee!! 👏👏👏

  6. As expected, there are very few people on that ship and the average age of those that are is about 72. I would absolutely die to be stuck on a ship for 133 days, even though you’ll be visiting some beautiful places. There is no way I would have the energy to be engaged with every port. I would be overstimulate and depressed by day 8. I would very quickly grow tired of the food, ship, passengers and entertainment.
Enough about me, interested to watch your journey.
