We’re again in Las Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic and in this video we’re weighing the pros and cons of maybe moving (or buying) to Las Terrenas instead of Cabarete.

We make our way through various areas of Las Terrenas, from Playa Ballenas, into town and Punta Popy.

We discuss various aspects like transportation, food, infrastructure and of course the cost of real estate and then compare it to what we like and dislike in both Las Terrenas versus Cabarete.

  1. It would be so cool if you guys moved to LT! Both towns are beautiful in their own way, but different. As you already know of course 😊. We compared both towns before deciding on purchasing in LT last year. Absolutely no regrets. We hope to see you guys on the beach again soon.

  2. Hopefully you were out of LT or not affected by the huge flood there. I agree with the points about the infrastructure and driving in the town. We enjoyed happy hour at Rincon Soleado and Uracano. Great flavoured Mojitos. We also stayed a month at Monserrat for a month. Nice spot. Too bad Cabarete wasn't on the beaches of LT. I think if I go back I will be going to SD. btw Arajet has really cheap flights to many places from SD including Montreal and TO.

  3. I’m so glad! I wanted to tell you that but I didn’t want you to feel bad. I grew up there and have family there. I live in the states now but when I retire I plan to go back home.❤ No better place to retire than Las Terrenas.

  4. Went there with my wife for our anniversary. That water that runs down to the beach is coming from the lagoon/mangroves, let me tell you it is cold!😂. Took a plunge in it and then ran to the other side to the warmer water✅. The ATV was very fun too, by day’s end, we had a basket full of things we bought along the way.Samana is very beautiful and quiet.

  5. There is definitely still more than food snd beaches to determine preferences. Congestion, traffic, pollution, noise, sidewalks and streets, infrastructure, services, medical services.

  6. My wife and I just stayed in Cabarete for 80 days (over 2 and a half months)and Las Terrenas for 10 days and we honestly love both but might give a slight lead to Cabarete. We ran into Trevor and Anne in Fresh fresh in Cabarete and chatted for a few minutes ❤

  7. Great video as always you guys! Because tomorrow is Earth Day, I have an Earth Day challenge for you two : when you go for your morning smoothie, ask for it in a reusable container that you bring with you and a reused or reusable straw so that you go plastic-less for the day. A longer-term challenge would be to try to do this as often as possible, dare say permanently. Vous pouvez le faire! iSuerte!

  8. Good day Anna & Trevor… 🌞

My wife Cindy and I have purchased two properties so far in Las Terrenas and we just love it here. We are transitioning to living here full time over the next 18 months. We currently live in the first apartment we purchased 6 months out of the year. It is located at La Fenice across from Playa Punta Popy Beach. The other one we purchased is a suite in a pre construction project called Atlantik Hotel which is currently being built across from the famous Las Terrenas sign in front of Playa Punta Popy Beach.

I'm working with some business partners in the US to bring in major investments for Land Acquisitions, existing Airbnb Acquisitions and Pre Constrution Acquisitions and we are looking for a team that can help us get the websites needed in place for this.

On Top of this we need a team to help build out the domain names we have around Las Terrenas. If you have some time this week to talk about this IM me on WhatApp at 512-571-7557.

Have a wonderful and blessed day…🙏

  9. Sounds like it’s time to sit down and make a good old fashioned ‘Pros/Cons’ list 😊. Seriously though, this would be a tough decision as both places seem to have equal examples of advantages and disadvantages for you – good luck!

  10. Would like to plan a trip to LT for a month or two and would appreciate suggestions on a local realtor that might assist us in finding the right property steps from the beach ( with a generator 😂). Love all your videos! Keep up the great work!

  11. Hi guys thank you for always bringing us great content/videos we love your work.
Las Terrenas is a amazing place to feel like a local so easy to get around by just walking or biking,I know it has a big infrastructure issues hope the government start working on those issues soon when you walk around the beautiful beaches it feels like there’s not issues.
Be bless and keep up the good work.😊

  12. Dominican Republic is still a developing country. Before traveling try to research where you are going. Is not Dubai, is not Europe. They have to do better with trash of course. I hope you say the same about Paris, New York or Rome.

  13. So we did it! Our trip to LT is booked for the first week of Dec flying into Samaná fr Toronto. So excited. I follow a few realestate channels fr LT and prices have jumped in LT but maybe settled down a bit. I always dream of buying in the DR but think we need to hang on to property in Canada so we always have a foothold. Thanks Trevor and Anna for another great Sunday morning video. Beautiful area.

  14. Las Terrenas is awesome, It's tucked away in this part of the country that's kinda been left alone for ages. despite the lack of development, it's got some seriously top-notch beaches.

  15. Hello from Belgium, Anna and Trevor, your video is so interesting again, you pointed a lot of helpfull issues as always !
We really loved Las Terrenas but the weather was not too good, lot of rain but only stayed 1 night. We stayed a Coco Loco Hotel, really cool and just in front of Empanadas y Mas, we managed to eat there and it was really good. We also went to enjoy Happy Hour at the Etno too 🤩really cool place even when it's raining 😉Will travel to Cabarete in several days, so will figure out which one between Las Terrenas and Cabarete we prefer. Maybe will be able to share it with you then. Never know. Keep going with your cool and helpfull videos and maybe see you soon in Cabarete.😘

  16. There's a real estate company there in LT owned by 2 fellow Nova Scotians. You should hook up with them for a future video to explore the Real Estate options in that area! They probably have keys. 😎 Lol.

  17. Recently visited the DR … stayed in Punta Cana and took a day trip to Santo Domingo… it was extremely depressing seeing the poverty, extreme poverty and very poor living conditions for the native people… piles of garbage on the roads, poor people waiting on the side of the roads/highways daily waiting be chosen to work by piling people on the backs of open pick up trucks, very dirty areas and shacks, this was our experience and this is what we saw driving from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo. It was very sad to see how high the poverty is for the native people.
And the river in Santo Domingo was horrible. The smell was very, very bad. The city seemed dirty and dusty.
