We moved our kids to the Dominican Republic in August 2022 and planned to stay for ONE year only!! In this video, I share what we’ve learned about moving kids abroad, how it’s going raising them in the ‘third world’ and what’s next for our kids as residents of the Dominican Republic

I present in this video the TRUTH about raising our kids in the Dominican Republic πŸ‡©πŸ‡΄ (from the US) and my goal is for you to learn from what we did right, what we did wrong and everything in between as you consider your move to the Dominican Republic, whether it’s Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Cabarete, Las Terranas, La Romana or anywhere else!

  1. I’m Dominican living in the states planning my move back. Watching your videos has truly helped, getting a clear and realistic perspective. I went back home last year and saw the huge difference in community (kids playing with each other), and that clicked for me. I was also soo anxious to let my kids go and be, so I had to self evaluate. Hearing you speak about that experience validated that for me, thank you!

  2. May God bless you brother and your family one day I'm gonna meet you in person. You're such a great guy down to earth❀❀❀❀❀

  3. 12:42 it's not just your bias. Even the truly rich here buy international health insurance just in case they need to be flown to the US for health related reasons. Usually they go to the US for anything cancer related whether it's an emergency or a scare just to make sure. I don't know if that should make Americans living in DR feel at ease or more concerned though πŸ˜‚

  4. LOVE your videos. A LOT of good information, looking to moving back too. I moved to the US, thinking to stay here for a couple of years, save some money, and go back to do some kind of business, haha, guess what, 18 years passed and still here, anyways keep up the good videos, Taxes here in the US are sky high, would love a video about that there. Best of luck!!!

  5. Hey Jaime, I just wanted to let you know that I shared the same experience as your kids being half American, half Dominican being raised in the DominicanRepublic. I could tell you it’s probably the best thing that I could experience in my life. Being raised in both cultures and learning both languages has made me feel more pride in both countries. These are experiences that are worth more than money. Keep up the good work.

  6. I did the same with my wife and daughter nearly 18 yrs ago. Best thing i ever did. My daughter had an awesome childwood. She’s fully bilingual. She’s since joined the US military stationed in El Paso to this day. Given today’s insanities in the US public school system i would not let my daughter one day in that environment. I’d do it all over again

  7. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I’m Dominican, living in NYC, right now it a big challenge to raise a child here. I really appreciate this video.

  8. Good point bro and could understand you despite your talking is pretty fast. I say that cause I am still learning English and you have became my teacher by accident. Thanks a lot for an interesting topic. Greetings from Santo Domingo, DR.πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©πŸ‡΄

  9. He speaking true im front DR santiago ..but raise new york im thinking going back …went go doctor here ..they Rush for nex client. ..πŸ˜… ..DR People allways happy ..gracias you doing great video lot info..bravoo primo

  10. Thats because they dont have a welfare system, child support, medicare, or even ssdi. That changes the entitlemnet portion. The entitlment in the states is big because if a woman gets pregnant, dad leaves she gets child support. she cant work , there is welfare, so it makes the woman and men in DR more hard working and appreciatve. Thats the difference. they dont have the programs like in the West. Which in my experience there, is never had a issue w the people there at all.

  11. My husband wants to buy property in Punta Cana and we are a homeschool family. Is that something that can be done there? We would like to continue homeschool until my daughter feels comfortable going to school over there. Thank you for your videos and valuable information. 😊
